Tung Wa Hospital.
Hong-Kong, 12th October, 1897.
I have the honour to report for the information of the Government regarding the work of the Tung Wa Hospital during the three months, 1st July to 30th September of this year.
I append a table showing the number of cases treated during the quarter, with statistics of the corresponding quarter of 1896; and it will be seen that, as was the case during the second quarter of the year, there is a large increase in the number of patients this year as compared with last year.
Of the 924 cases treated, 114 were treated by Dr. Chung according to Western methods, and I append a further table showing the diseases that came under his care.
Nineteen cases were discharged to be submitted to foreign treatment elsewhere, as follows: seven to Government Civil Hospital, nine to Kennedy Town Hospital, two to Alice Memorial Hospital.
Dr. J. M. Atkinson,
Principal Civil Medical Officer.
